Types of Redirects
- 301 - Permanent Redirect: The page has permanently moved. Search engines transfer SEO value.
- 302 - Temporary Redirect: The page has temporarily moved. SEO value is not transferred.
- 307 - Temporary Redirect: Similar to 302 but preserves HTTP method.
- 308 - Permanent Redirect: Similar to 301 but preserves HTTP method.
Redirect Chains
A redirect chain occurs when a URL redirects to another URL, which then redirects to yet another URL. Example:
http://example.com → https://example.com → https://www.example.com/page
Best Practice: Avoid redirect chains. They slow down page load and can hurt SEO.
